The Saskatoon Highland Dance Association was formed in 1954 and exists to promote the art of Highland Dancing and the Scottish culture of its origin. The SHDA brings a wee bit of Scotland to Saskatoon and area through performances, workshops, competitions, and family events. We also host the Scottish Pavilion at Folkfest, Saskatoon’s terrific multicultural festival held each year in mid-August.
SHDA holds 3 competitions in Saskatoon – November, February and May. Sponsorships goes toward bringing in world class judges, pipers, subsidizing competitor fees, awards, and more.
You can choose to sponsor any one competition or sponsor all 3 competitions and receive the 3rd at half price. All sponsors will be announced during the competition and recognized in our program. Sponsors may be asked if they would like to help in presenting trophies.
The SHDA also provides sponsorship for teachers to continue their learning by attending workshops/lectures and taking higher level teaching exams. Next summer, the SHDA hopes to have several of dancing members traveling to BC to represent Saskatchewan at the ScotDance Canadian Championship Series.
