“Rewarding Saskatoon highland dancers for their achievements in competition, community service, and the highland dance experience.”

Muriel Boyle was a foundational figure in Saskatoon’s highland dance community.  Active as a competitor, teacher, and judge from 1921 to 1954, she won numerous medals across Western Canada before opening her own studio, where she trained generations of accomplished dancers.  Beyond the studio Muriel directed the Scottish country dancers for 17 years and spent decades bringing Highland dance to the public through community showcases.  She continued to enjoy and participate in dancing until her passing in 2003.

Upon her passing in July 2003, Muriel generously bestowed a gift from her estate upon the Saskatoon Highland Dancing Association.  Through her lasting gift, the SHDA proudly honours her passion and community spirit by supporting our local dancers each year.
